Neither clicking on desktop icons or highlighting software programs off the start menu will work. All that happens is a box comes up with a limited list of software programs to use for whatever software program I can't get up. Problem is there is just a limited list. That works fine to get Firefox up and running, but can't use other programs. Work documents do come up fine. This just happened. At the bottom of the box that comes up is a link that takes me to some MS site that suggests registry correction type software programs(apparently to take care of this problem?) - only trouble is, after downloading a couple of those, I can't them to come up either.
Maybe it's a coincidence, by I noticed software icons that are in the lower right corner are gone - only the little speaker icon comes up there now.
Any suggestions?
