When my computer is, or doesn't seem to be doing anything at all I ctrl+alt+del to Task Manager and get ridiculous CPU usage amounts.

I couldn't see very much on your image I'm afraid, although I could see that CPU usage was at 100%. Use .jpg rather than .bmp Try looking at the processes in Task Manager and see which ones are using the CPU.

Here is another screen shot. Hope this one is better...

Processes that are using the most resources:

explorer.exe 13,440K (even though I don't explorer)
mcshield.exe (AV)
firefox.exe (naturally..)
svchost.exe [System] 28088K

Well... it seems to be better now anyways, maybe it was just auto-update or something.

You forgot the screenshot. :grin:
It's not the amount of memory used that's important, it's the % of CPU time.

Whoops, well.. the CPU time seems normal. Firefox is using 04 as I'm typing this and the rest is System Idle Process, which is normal.

Like I said, I'm thinking it was probably auto-update or something, because I'm not getting the same results in task manager that I was at the time of the original post.

I'll post back with a screen shot if I catch it again...
