[SOLVED] Sporadic, clustered BSODs

Hello world,

I'm using a pretty new computer, but I've been having a lot of blue screens: 26 thus far. They seem to cluster in time; often there will be 2 or more in a single day or within a few days (as of this writing I've had two more not included in the zip files) and I started getting them within a few days of using the computer.

The computer is an HP Pavilion dm3-1030us.
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium x64, OEM version and never been reinstalled.
The computer's only about 7 months old.
CPU is an AMD Athlon Neo X2 Dual Core L335, 1.60 Ghz; ATI Radeon HD 3200 graphics card.
65 W AC adapter and a 6 cell LI battery

I don't really know more details about the motherboard/hardware, unfortunately. The BSODs haven't been terribly bad and are mostly an irritation, but it would be nice to figure out what's wrong. Any help would be really appreciated

Go to Device Manager and uninstall the Teredo adapters (right click on them and select "Uninstall"). If needed they will be reinstalled on a reboot (but most often they're not needed and they don't come back).

Your BlueTooth adapter is disabled. Did you do this deliberately - and if so, why?

Looks to me like it's the athrx.sys driver causing problems. The STOP 0x7F's tend to point to networking issues - but the STOP 0x9F's use the new debugging engine to see that athrx.sys is causing pci.sys to crash.

It's probably a part of your Atheros AR5009 802.11a/g/n WiFi Adapter software package.

Download a fresh copy of the wireless drivers for your system
Uninstall the current copy of the wireless software from your system
Install the freshly downloaded copy
Monitor for further BSOD's.

Also, please remove or update these older drivers that were loaded at the time of the crash. Don't use Windows Update or the Update drivers function of Device Manager.

Hi usasma,

I'm sorry I didn't get back to this thread sooner, but a short while after posting the computer ended up dying completely (displayed only a black screen whenever I attempted to boot); I don't know if it had the same root cause as the BSODs. However, thanks to warranty, it's going to an HP service center so the problem's sort of been resolved indirectly. If it still has problems afterwards, I'll take a look at the drivers and update them accordingly.
