Hi I have a problem with my video card i think. when i run some games it says stuff like "couldn't change to 640x840" or something like that i have updated the driver for it but it still does not work my card is a SiS 530 i would really like to play my games seen as i have 10 that don't work.

You say it can't go to 640x840? That is strange, usually people have problems getting out of that. May I ask what monitor driver you have install, and if there are any programs running in the background?

Ok, I talked around with some people, it seems to be a common problem with the sis 530 chipset along with unable to change the color depth out of 16m.

Have you gone to http://www.sis.com/support/driver/530.htm and downloaded a udpate for your driver?

Well They Didn't Work

Try setting your monitor to plug and play or standard. If that doesn't work then there is some peice of software that is blocking it, or there is something wrong with the video card.

I would have to say either a file is corrupt, something is blocking it (virus perhaps?) or that video card is bad.

Ahhh, my girlfriend has/had this kind of video card. It's an onboard SiS 530... one word--"HORRIBLE". Don't even bother trying to play games with that card.

But as far as help goes, If I had to search for a driver, I'd go to http://www.driversplanet.com. Although, some of them may be outdated, they probably haven't made any new drivers for the SiS 530.
