Re: Saving Notepad

Are you trying to save the file with invalid characters like '*' or '?'. What name are you trying to save the file as?
Re: Saving Notepad

I am trying to save Notepad with all acceptable characters. My Wordpad and Works Word Processor work fine when I save them. This glitch with Notepad just started to happen.
Thanks

Re: Saving Notepad

When you try to save, are you presented with an error message? If so, could you tell us what it says or possibly an image of the message itself?

Make sure your saving not only in acceptable characters, but also in an acceptable location. Try saving to your Desktop and see if it works.
Re: Saving Notepad

I am saving to the desktop. There are no unacceptable characters and the exact same message used in the other vehicles [Wordpad and Workpad]save to the desktop correctly. Just a note, recently my PDF files would not save to desktop and I re-installed Adobe and now PDFs save correctly. Is it possible to re-install the Notepad program?
Re: Saving Notepad

You can 'refresh' the version of notepad.exe you use by going to c:\windows\system32 folder and deleting notepad.exe .

Windows will replace it from the cache.
Re: Saving Notepad

I do not know how to do that. Can I just delete it from Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs>Notepad>Remove??? What happens if I do that? Will Windows replace it from the cache.
thanks

No, you can't, since it isn't there.

In the folder I pointed out, find notepad.exe, right click it and then select delete.

Windows will ask if you are sure - say Yes. It automatically gets replaced from the cache.
Re: Saving Notepad

No you need to;

Open my computer, Double click on your hard drive ( i will assume its under (C:))
when you open your C drive you should see folders like program files,User etc.
From that click on the Windows folder > system32> search for notepad.exe ( it should be listed alphabetically and right click notepad when you find and and press delete.

Restart your pc,
Job Done
