Hello everyone,
I was sent to this site by a friend who I asked for some help with getting my router up and running.
It is a Belkin Wireless G Plus router (Version 2)
Model No.: F5D7231-4
FCC ID: K7SF5D7231B
And I'm using Windows XP.
The router was given to me by another friend that no longer had any use for it, however he lost the disc so I'm not able to install from it. I've connected the router, and my iPod can pick up the wireless signal, but it isn't allowing my desktop to connect to the internet. I have an ethernet cable running from the modem to the router, and from the router to my computer, with everything in the correct spaces designated on the router. Any input or help on the subject would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks.

Re: Router Driver

and welcome to the Forum

What is the Brand and Model of the Modem?

Did you powercycle the Modem when you connected the Router? Turn off the Modem, router and all pc's . . thurn on the Modem and wait a few minutes for the lights to stabilize . . then turn on the router, then one pc at a time. See if you connect ot the internet then

I did unplug the router and modem before plugging everything in, but not the pc. I'll try that now.

Re: Router Driver

My apologies, I read it wrong.
The modem is an RCA Digital Broadband Model No. DHG536
And I tried unplugging everything, turning it off and back on in that order, Modem, Router, PC, and still nothing. The PC, however did recognize that there was a connection, but Firefox and Aim were unable to connect.
My iPod was also able to pick up, yet again.

Re: Router Driver

try this:

On a pc that is hard wired to the router, Click on Start . . Run . . type CMD

At the > prompt type type the following command: IPCONFIG /ALL

Note that there is a space before the /ALL, but there is NOT a space after the / in the following

command.

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter

. Come back here and Paste the results in a message.

If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to

transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

Re: Router Driver

Ok, I did that and have the information, but I just want to know how safe it is posting my IP and all that on here is before i do. I'm aware of the damages that can be done. Sorry to be a pain about it.

Re: Router Driver

And that's what it needed. the router is plugged in and connected and I have a signal with my iPod. Everything's working well. Thank you very much.
Now, as for locking the signal, that's what I would need the disc that I don't have for correct?
