Hi,
I tried several times in the last 2 years to install SP3, but I never succeeded to restart from hibernate, so that I always had to return to SP2.
As MS won't support SP2 any longer, I now HAVE to install SP3 defintively. So I hope, somebody can give me the right advice. The problem is as follows:
No problems at all with SP1 and SP2. No changes in Bios or other software. After installing SP3 (with all actual updates) the system comes up from hibernate with the resume-bar up to the end of loading. Then it hangs for about 2 or 3 minutes and afterwords the following screen (sometimes only!) shows "preparing hibernating" and then hangs definitely.
I watched, that the writing of the hibernate-file follows VERY short time after the message "preparing hibernating" instead of the former time of about 5 to 10 seconds, so that I assume, that the hibernate-file is written too early and incorrect and therefore corrupt every time.
I tried already the following:
- I closed all programs before hibernating
- I deleted and recreated hiberfil.sys
- I replaced msgina.dll by old version, which worked fine
- I enlarged pagefile.sys
- I defragmented the volume and let run chkdsk
What else (instead running furtheron SP2) can I try, to get "my hibernate" back. Hopefully somebody can help!
