[SOLVED] Rebuild a table from 1 column of copied data

Dear all, hope you can help with any ideas for this one.

I have uploaded an example file for better understanding.

So the problem is I have reports done from an accounts software into PDF files. the data in the reports is organized as tables of data in sequential pages. Originals are like 3 to 100 pages, representing records of sales for a determined period. Each page has its own headers and then part of total data.

I made example with 3 columns only but originals would have 9 columns of data. In the originals there are 33 lines of data (i made up just 8 lines in example file) and a certain number of header lines per page. The data lines are always 33 lines per page for different reports, but the number of header lines may differ from one report to another. But it's always the same number of lines within one report.

When this data is copied from pdf and pasted to Excel, excel puts the whole thing in one column. Fortunatelly it follows a patern and I'm certain I can get some set of formulas or aiders to rebuild the complete set of data as a table in Excel, which I then use for other reports.

I'm quite sure offset function will have some use here, but I've been struggling with the maths to get the sequencing right.

many thx

Try importing the data rather than pasting it.

Thx Garvin, I really haven't thought of that...
However, excel doesn't recognize the pdf original appropratedly.
I tried copy the text from pdf to notepad (so to get rid of pdf format stuff) but the data gets just like in excel, everything in one single "column" of sequential data.

Hey kafukalatrava,

Does the data repeat like in your example or is the combining the headers of each page?
Are there 5 headers per page? (what about the last page?)
Are all the headers used or just the first 3?

If you post an exact example, it will help us a lot.
