[SOLVED] Quickbooks 2010 install problem on Vista machine

3299 Views 4 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  jcgriff2
I cannot install my new upgrade 2010 Pro Quickbooks on my HP laptop with Windows Vista operating system.
Error 1317 comes up during install, due to software not able to write to C drive.
Quickbooks support has give their solution, but they do not seem to work. Premissions as far as I can tell have been set correctly to allow software to create files on C drive but every attempt to install comes up with same error.
What file setting need to be changed to give Quickbooks access to create files.
I have Quickbooks 2007 running fine on this laptop and do not remember having anyproblem installing that version of software 3 years ago.

Re: Quickbooks 2010 install problem on Vista machine

Error 1317 refers to invalid path/ file name as I recall.

Try installation again but be sure to run it at elevated admin level - RIGHT-click on setup.exe (or other for install), select "Run as Administrator".

Hi -

Glad you found the solution.

Did you create another "regular user admin" account or activate the "Hidden Admin" account?
