Hey guys. I just recently reformatted my dimension 4550, and my internet is not working. The service number for my computer is 64Lpz11. I have a 802.11 b/g, 54Mbps wireless USB Adapter inserted into the back of my computer, and, for the life of me, i cannot find the right driver to get my internet working. Please help! I`ve done the same thing for my other computers as well, and the drivers worked, but i guess that maybe because those other computers were connected directly to our modem.

Re: Problem with network adapters

Are all the Dell drivers installed.

Dell Support Drivers

Open Device Manager and post any driver errors.

What brand is the USB adapter? Once you know this you can find the driver from

the manufacturer website.

If cannot find post the hardware id for the device

Open the Device Manager
Right Click on the Device in question
Properties
Details Tab

In XP the VEN_ #### and DEV_ #### is located under Device Instance ID
In Vista and Win7 the VEN_ #### and DEV_#### is located under Hardware ID

Yeah, i downloaded the dell drivers, and still, i do not have the correct drivers. When i opened device manager, under other devices, it has a yellow question mark beside 802.11 n WLAN, and Network controller.

I didn`t see any VEN or DEV numbers for the wireless USB Wlan, but, i did see one under Network controller:

PCI\VEN_104C&DEV_9066&SUBSYS_4C001385

And the brand for the USB Adapter is from ralink.

Re: Problem with network adapters

Hi,
Do you have two wireless cards installed?

The ID you gave (PCI\VEN_104C&DEV_9066&SUBSYS_4C001385)
points to a Netgear WG311v2. Here is a link with a picture and download
http://kb.netgear.com/app/products/model/a_id/2565

This is a PCI wireless lan adapter and is installed in one of your PCI slots within the tower
You may have it installed but missing the antenna, so take a look.
It will not work well without the antenna

And you also post you have a Ralink USB Adapter.
What is the model number?

Re: Problem with network adapters

I don`t know what the model number is....but, i can perhaps show you what it looks like, here:

http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51W6-cSvDgL.jpg

And, i think the netgear wireless card was for the previous wireless card we had, and it looked just like the one in the picture. But now, we have one like the one in the picture is just posted.....and my brother says it`s a ralink wireless USB adapter....but, i`m not sure.

Re: Problem with network adapters

there is a yellow question mark beside 802.11 n WLAN, but, that was already visible. When i first pluged the usb wireless device, it said the usual new hardware found, and then said 802.11 n WLAN. It says 802.11b/g on the device itself. And also, on the back, it says 2010, and has the numbers, in two rows, from 1 through 12. Maybe that may help you somewhat?

Re: Problem with network adapters

Yeah....because i remember you helping someone else with this same problem, and you said something about searching on google using the device id #m, or something like that. I was able to find it after that. And again, thanks for the help....i am finally up and running.
