Hi everyone, I have a Dell Dimension 4600 and I believe it has a Soundblaster Live 5.1 sound card. I just reformatted it and now I have no drivers or anything. I tried downloading SB Live drivers but I get a error message saying the hardware cant be detected everytime I try to install them. Can anyone please tell me how can I confirm what type of soundcard I have and where can I get the drivers I need. Please help me get this working! Thanks!

Re: Please help me...

If the sound card came preinstalled in the Dell, then get the drivers from the Dell website.

Other wise, you can get the drivers from Creative, but you will need to know the EXACT model and version of the card you are using.

I tried going on both the Dell and Creative websites and I couldn't find the drivers for Creative SB Live or any other relevant drivers either. Any suggestions where I should get the drivers from?

Did you add the sound card? Or are you using it as you received it from Dell? If it was installed by Dell, then you can go to the Dell website and get the drivers. Simply search using the service tag. If will pull up all of information and drivers relevant to your PC.

Otherwise, as I stated before, you need to know the exact model and version of the card in your PC. If you download drivers for the wrong card or version, you will get an error stating the card is not found. That's because the installer is looking for a specific card. In your case for example, there are numerous versions of the SB Live card.
