Hey all,

Is there anyone with Photoshop experience who knows a way to set Photoshop to NOT invert the colors when selecting text?

The behavior in PS is to highlight the selected text, and show it as an inverted color or negative of the color it actually is. Like, if the text is green, it will show as red when selected. This makes testing out colors a tiresome process of selecting, changing, deselecting, and reselecting text.

This is something that has always pestered me, but I'm just now looking into it. I have looked all over and can't find it as an option anywhere, but if you know of a way, then please let me know!

Thanks,
Joe

Re: Photoshop Type Tool selection colors

Most of my work is in Illustrator so I don't recall directly, but I believe you should be able to select the text box without highlighting text and then select a new color from the palette. I'll look into it when I get some time on a machine with PS.

That is correct, at least on Photoshop CS 4 and up.

Re: Photoshop Type Tool selection colors

Okay, thanks guys! I see now that it's removing the highlight as I select the color when I go to pick a new color, but is there any way to remove this highlight permanently (and replace it with an outline or something)?

With things like selecting fonts especially, it's hard to make a good judgement when the colors are all inverted like that. I wish it would just show an outline or an ant-trail like it does with selecting any other object.

Ctrl-H ... that is precisely the function I was hoping for! Thanks for sharing that, LissaMarie! And thanks to everyone for helping me with this!
