OK, so my Uncle Chris's Aunt asked me to fix her computer. She said it had a Virus, I scanned with MSSE, and a few others and NOTHING came up at all, and I opened up several things and I don't see any problem what so ever. I was just wondering if by the specs below, what would you upgrade for whenever I call and ask if she would just like me to upgrade it. What would give the best performance increase? I say RAM, because I dislike putting in new CPU's lol. But if I have to I will.

OS: Win xp SP3
CPU: Intel Celeron 420 1/6 GHz COnroe-L 65NM Technology
Ram 512MB SIngle-Channel DDR2
MoBo Elightgroup 945GCT-M# Socket 775
GFX: HP1907 Intel 82945G Express Chipset Family
HD 75 GB Seagate Sata

Like I said, I'm leaning to putting 2 gigs of RAM in being this PC is 10 years old or so. Any tips? Ideas? Thanks.

Re: Not Sure what to Upgrade

check the specs but probably upgrading the ram would be as good as you could do with that system. Look on the manufacturers website for upgrade info.

You might want to ask Aunty why she thinks there is a virus.
As for upgrades, greenburcelee said, RAM is the only thing worth extending the life of this computer. Do the crucial system scanner to find out what type of RAM and your upgrade options are.

Re: Not Sure what to Upgrade

sweet thanks everyone. I called, she said to just order the RAM and she will pay me for it when she picks it up. So I did so. Thanks again everyone.
