Okay the title is a bit confusing, but here's the deal:

Bought a new little rig off of tiger direct. Immediatly ordered a 9800GTX (1gig) to install. Immediatly realized upon arrival my PSU wasn't going to hack it. Bought a Modular BFG 550w and installed the GPU and the PSU at the same time.

Boot time.

1 beep.

Splash screen...and not Windows, but some little picture I'd saved in the bios.

1 beep = A-Okay. But that's not the case. I can't see my boot up information because I added the little boot up picture...which I will never do again.

Sooo, just to be sure, I installed the old card, which was a 9500GT. (/cry)

Same thing. I've gone over all of my connections a couple of times, but maybe I missed something? Any ideas?

AMD Athlon x2 5200+ @ 2.7ghz
4 gig ddr2 dc
BFG Modular 550w psu
9800 GTX 1gig
Gigabyte S series mobo

Basically everything is a month old or less...

Go into bios, take the picture thingy away so you can read post.
Go through bios and make sure everything is in order. Bios may have
set itself to default settings, which doesnt agree with your system.
Not a big fan of the bfg psu's.

Well, I got to the bottom of it...

my optical drive had no power. Not sure why that was causing the problem, unless it had something to do with the boot sequence? I've taken several years off from PC gaming, so I'm behind on the times. Thought I'd give it another go. Anyway, all is well now.

Glad you got it figured out, yup probably set to boot to cdrom and if
it was disconnected it muffed things up,,,,,,:wink:
