Hello

Just built a new system. All in place. Press start button and fans work. No beep and nothing else. Tried to turn off system and will not power down or restart on the button. The HD light on front case not on.

Tried all that I know but no luck.

Help

Re: New system not starting

Okay, would you be able to give the full specs on your system (mobo, ram, psu, processor, etc)? This can help determine the issue.

Make sure that everything (CPU, RAM, Video) are seated properly, and make sure that your switches are hooked up correctly as well.

Go through the bench test that linderman describes in the stickey at the top of this subforum.

Hope it's something simple.
Re: New system not starting

Hello

Its a Gigabyte S series mobo for a AMD2 Pnenom X4. (GA_MA770-DS3/S3). With 4g Ram and a WIN POWER Psu ATX 650L. All in a Cooler mater case.

I must be thick but I cannot find that stickey.

Thanks for your help....I really am lost here

Re: New system not starting

Hello

So following instructions I stripped the system down to just the mobo, processor, fan and 2g ram, on a bench as described. Started system fan works and nothing else. Still cannot turn off and no beep......Is this terminal for mobo or processor or both?????

Thanks for your help

Re: New system not starting

Did you try reseating your CPU again? If not, I would take that apart, clean off the old thermal paste and reseat it. Also, need to make sure one leg on the CPU is not a little loose, because that can also happen. Did you remember to hook up your +12 molex to the motherboard? Remember, that comes from the power supply directly and not the ATX plug spare 4 pin if you have a 20 pin connector.
Re: New system not starting

Thanks

I disconnected the cpu. But there was paste on it and the socket that it goes into so I assume that I cannot clean the pins and that may have been the fault...too much paste. Do I have to connect ALL the pins in the power socket, as I did not connect the remaining four pins as recommended in the manual.

Thanks

Re: New system not starting

Id do what it suggests. They cant be far from wrong...
Re: New system not starting

hello
24pin.

i have used akasa tim cleaner to clean the processor and a bit on the m/b where the processor sits. Then used compressed air to clean off.

No thermal in sight on processor and the sockets for it on the m/b look clean.

Do you think that will work.?????

Thank you

Re: New system not starting

As long as all the pins and the holes that seat them are clean and there is no mess/compound/dust all over ther mosfet or anywhere else then I dont see why not. Just a little squidge of paste next time eh?
Re: New system not starting

Thank you all. Problem solved much to my relief. That single beep happened when I started up again. Lesson learn't NEVER use too much paste.
Re: New system not starting

glad you have it sorted
