Who is your Internet Service Provider (ISP)?
Time Warner/Road Runner

What type of Broadband connection are you using?
Cable

What is the exact Make and Model of your Modem, Router or Modem/Router
Router that works = Linksys WRT110
Router that doesn't work = Linksys E2500
Modem = Arris TM402G/110

What is the Name of the Anti-Virus, Security or Firewall Software installed from the problematic computer - Kaspersky Internet Security 2013

I'm trying to get a new wireless router up and running. When it is hooked up my computer shows me as being connected in the list of available wireless networks, but the connection icon in the bottom right of the screen has the yellow triangle error and I'll have no internet connection. My smartphone will also show me as being connected, but the wireless signal icon will be grey instead of blue and I will have no internet connection. The Ipad does something similar. I've done a hard reboot (turned everything off, unplugged modem and router, then turned modem on and waited for it to settle down, turned router on and waited for it to settle down, then restarted the computer) and that hasn't helped. I'm using powerline connectors to get internet to my desktop. The new router is to get a stronger signal when we are upstairs and are on our smartphones/Ipad.

Let me know if I need to provide more information or if what I provided isn't helpful. I don't know much about this stuff, but I do appreciate anyone who takes the time to try and help.

Here is the info on the router that does work

Re: New router won't connect to internet

Hi and welcome to TSF,

I suggest that you delete all the wireless network profiles on your windows machines, ipad and smart phones.

on windows machine:

go to start>control panel>network and sharing centre>manage wireless networks highlight each profile in turn and right click and choose remove profile.

On ipad:

Go to settings>Wi-fi click the blue arrow against your router SSID and click on Forget this network.

For your smart phones it will be similar to the above check your documentation for how to.

Do this and then connect up the Linksys E2500 and connect to your router SSID again and input the network key again and see how the connection is.

To start just try this on one of your devices first try the windows machine first but disconnect from the powerline adapters and try the wireless connection only.

Re: New router won't connect to internet

Since it is happening on all devices i would suggest you do a hard reset of the Linksys E2500 to clear all settings on the router you will need to re-configure from scratch afterwards.

To do a reset please use the reset button or an opened paperclip and and place into small hole on back of router and press and hold for between 10 to 20 seconds until all lights on the router light up to indicate router has reset.

Then re-configure WAN settings to connect to the modem for internet connectivity and test using a wired connection using an ethernet cable from your computer's ethernet port to one of the Lan ports on the E2500 and confirm you have internet connectivity.

Once internet connectivity has been confirmed then you can re-configure your wireless settings on the router i suggest WPA2 AES and network key.

Delete all wireless profiles on your devices again and then try and re-connect to your router SSID.

Re: New router won't connect to internet

How do I re-configure WAN settings and how do I re-configure the wireless settings on the router? Sorry, I don't know much when it comes to this stuff.

Re: New router won't connect to internet

That user guide is in Arabic. I'll have to hook up the other router so I can get online and find an English version to print the necessary pages.

Re: New router won't connect to internet

If you scrolled down there was an english version marked EN.

How did you initially configure your router?

With the WAN settings you set it to automatic DHCP if your isp supplies you with a dynamic Public ip address or to static if your isp supplies you with one fixed ip address and they would give you details such as ip address, subnet mask, default gateway and two dns servers.

As for the wireless settings you go to wireless set the wireless mode to mixed for 802.11b/g/n if your wireless card supports that.

Then go to security and set it to WPA2 Personal AES if your wireless card on computer and other devices supports it.

Set a wireless network key which will need to be input when you connect to it's ssid from the computer.

Re-boot router and devices.

Re: New router won't connect to internet

I reset the wireless router. The Cisco software then told me to run the CD that came with the router again. I did that, but changed the ip address, with the last two numbers being .2 . 2. (I read about this in another posting.) I then rebooted the router and everything worked fine. Thanks for your assistance, TheCyberMan!

That is great it is now working, i must admit i am not a fan of using cd's found them unreliable and learned to do everything manually.

Thanks for posting back and you are very welcome.
