Hey guys have a major problem.
I transfered all my files to my desktop pc because i wanted to re install windows on my laptop (i only use the pc as storage) and i will admitt i did fill the hard drive up thinking that it would only slow.
I left the files transfering while i slept, through LAN but when i woke it wasnt jus slow it froze so i restarted and i get the error windows had to shut to protect your comp etc.
I know i left about 1.6GB left on the drive but is was supposed to be only for a few hours until i re transfered my stuff.
I cant run CHKDSK/F because the damn drive wont read my disk and i tried booting in safe mode also last good config.

Can i install xp on my slave and still access my main drive although it is passworded?
Any help would be greatly appreciated:sigh:

Hello and Welcome to TSF,

Yes you can install xp on the other harddrive as master drive
the old one will have to be set to slave drive

Note: make sure your antivirus definitions are up to date before connecting
slave drive up to pc.

You can use this program also to scan it with:

Anti-Malwarebytes - http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php (free version)

When you open up slave drive, it should popup a box to enter the password.

hey thanks anyway guys but problem solved i took my HD round my friends and set it as slave access straight away all transfers successfull

you need to have 15% free space as a min on a h/drive
