Re: need help in setting up hotmail account on MS office outlook 2007 ?

Check to see when you are setting it up that port 25 on your SMTP Server isn't being blocked. Try using port 587 with SSL or TSL encryption. Also check if 'Authentication required' box is ticked. Try it both ways.

Re: need help in setting up hotmail account on MS office outlook 2007 ?

I am getting this error message in my start/receive errors

verify the email address in account properties. The server responded 530. 5.7.0 must issue a STARTTLS command first

how can i check if port 25 is not blocked . i have already checked authentication required box

Thanks for your help

In the Outgoing mail (SMTP) box, type 587 (this will let you know if the port is blocked)
Under both Outgoing mail (SMTP) and Incoming mail (POP3), select the ‘requires secure connection (SSL)’ check box.
In Outlook 2007, choose Auto; use SSL for Outlook 2003
