Re: msvfw32.dll missing

Hello and Welcome to TSF

Run the System File Checker

Go to the Run box on the Start Menu and type in:

sfc /scannow ( sfc if not reconized) (Note that there is a space between sfc and /scannow)

This command will immediately initiate the Windows File Protection service to scan all protected files and verify their integrity, replacing any files with which it finds a problem.

In all likelihood you will be prompted to insert the Windows XP CD.

Re: msvfw32.dll missing

Hey Geekgirl,

I took your advise and ran sfc /scannow. It did its thing, and didn't say anything about inserting the xp disc.

Does this sound like it may have fixed the problem?

Hey Geekgirl,

I restarted my computer to see if the problem persists, results are the same. Any more suggestions?

Hello again Geekgirl,

I am a little confused, and require some guidance. I clicked on the link, " How to backup and restore the registery in windows xp and windows vista".
There I clicked on the, "Downlaod guided help". This went through its process, than I restarted the CPU. The results are still the same. Did I miss something or should I try something else?:4-dontkno

Re: msvfw32.dll missing

Hi Geekgirl,

I have the file downloaded to my desktop. They recommend expresszip to unzip the file. I don't have a program to unzip files and they require $20.00 for their program. I was wondering if you could recommend a free download that would work to unzip this file?

Thank again

Re: msvfw32.dll missing

You should be able to unzip with any problems. Follow these instructions, do not purchase anything

Hi Geekgirl,

I unzipped the file without any problems, However; when I restarted the CPU I get the same message "CTicketManagerWnd: MsnMsgr.Exe - Unable to locate component This application has failed to start because MSVFW32.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix the problem". Any suggestions?:4-dontkno

Hi Geekgirl,

As it turns out, that did take care of the problem. I unzipped it to the wrong folder, that is why it didn't work; please disreguard the last thread I posted. Your solution solved my problem, you are awsome. Thanks so much for your help.:heartlove
