[SOLVED] Mobo Problems

708 Views 9 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  dai
Basically, I had an old mobo, and am replacing it with a newer one. But when I plug it in with everything connected it starts for about...1 1/2 seconds then shuts off. When I unplug EVERYTHING from it it still does the same thing. I replaced the battery as well thinking that was the problem but that wasnt it. So I took it out of the case and plugged it in. Now what happens is it will turn on. The fan will start for, again, about 1 1/2 seconds then shuts off...then turns on again...then shuts off. Its not the power supply because I've tried it with my old mobo and it still works. Funny thing is I will take out all the ram ( I have 4 1gb sticks ) and it will run but the no ram beeping with go. But when I put even one in it still will run for a second then shut off. Its really frustrating
Any help please
Thanks

Re: Mobo Problems

No post. Ive already tried this with the bare bones. (PS connected to the mobo and a stick of ram in the slot. nothing more) and still nothing. My case only has 6 standoffs. Would that make a difference?
Re: Mobo Problems

ok, left it over night and for some reason it worked. But now whenever I plug in my harddrive it does the same thing!!!! at one point I had the HDD plugged into it, not on raid 0 and it read it, went to post then went to disk read error pres ctrl-alt-del. I plugged it into raid 0 and it turns on for a few seconds and shuts off :(

Re: Mobo Problems

glad you have it sorted what was the problem
To be honest I have no idea. It might have been that the battery was dead and it needed to be recharged? That would be my assumption no idea on how correct it is. Another thing that could be the problem was the power switch wasnt plugged in...Maybe that was a problem? Not sure.
