Missing thumbnails sounds like some sort of torture, but it's not quite as painful as that.

In most of the folders where I keep .avi files, the icons are converted into thumbnails showing an image of the content. In one folder, however, I simply get the AVI icon. I've checked the folder options for all folders and they are identical. These files are video output from a CCTV camera so it would be useful to see the thumbnail rather than having to run the file in order to see the contents. Any ideas, suggestions etc., welcome.

I've followed all those plus some others I found, but still no joy. Even stranger, I copied one of the files into a folder where thumbnails are visible and it still shows as an icon. I checked its properties and they are identical to the other files in that folder.

If you download this program here then open up the AVI clips inside the program does it see a thumbnail?

Mp3tag - the universal Tag Editor (ID3v2, MP4, OGG, FLAC, ...)

If not you can manually add them via that program.

According to the program it only opens audio files.

Never mind me...For some reason I thought it opened movies as well.
