Hi,

Is there an easy way to monitor bandwidth usage of individual PCs from a centralized location like the server or router interface? I’m trying to see who is hogging up bandwidth with streaming music, without actually asking around. We have a Sonicwall router on Win 2000 Server.

Thanks,
Ed

Re: measure bandwidth of PCs from centralized location

Thanks Wand3r3r, although I'm looking at the logs and don't see anything resembling sites. Is there a specific log I should be looking at?

There's something in the log menu called ViewPoint which requires an upgrade license:

"SonicWALL ViewPoint is a software solution that creates dynamic, Web-based reports of network activity. SonicWALL ViewPoint generates both real-time and historical reports to provide a complete view of all activity through your SonicWALL Internet Security Appliance. With SonicWALL ViewPoint, you are able to monitor network access, enhance network security and anticipate future bandwidth needs."

Orion Network Performance Monitor (NPM) makes it easy to quickly detect, diagnose, and resolve performance issues within your ever-changing corporate or data center network. It delivers real-time views and dashboards that enable you to visually track network performance at a glance. Plus, with our dynamic network topology maps and automated network discovery features, you can keep up with your evolving network without breaking a sweat. And Orion NPM is the easiest product of its kind to use and maintain, meaning you will spend more time actually managing networks, not supporting Orion NPM.

Re: measure bandwidth of PCs from centralized location

the sonicwall should have logs that tell you where people are going which might give you specifics to look at.
Thanks, yeah I was actually looking in the right place (Logs > Reports) but they weren't working properly. I had to Stop and Start the service.
