[SOLVED] Lost its resolution

1102 Views 4 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  Acer2000
Dear all

I am doing a cover for my magazine in PAINT.NET a free image editing program.

Having finished the cover, I saved into JPEG, Bitmap, and PNG. I then inserted the image into an MS Publisher 2003 document and converted it into PDF. The cover picture (which is now in PDF) has lost its resolution as I am viewing it in adobe reader!

I tried all the above mentioned picture formats :sigh:

Any idea?

Thank you:wave:

Re: Lost its resolution

If your making a brochure.

I have had problems with this too.

easiest solution is to remove all the margins in publisher then drag the corner of the image to fit the top cover.

if its just a normal title page (8.5x11) i would print it from paint into a pdf using a program like: CutePDF - Create PDF for free, Free PDF Utilities, Save PDF Forms, Edit PDF easily.
Re: Lost its resolution

No, that does not solve the problem as I found out. It has to do with the dpi as I was told by a professional publisher. The dpi should be set at 300 instead of 96.

I will be giving this a try... but I need a graphic editor that can do the job... I learned that photoshop can do it.

Re: Lost its resolution

Thank you.

Yes... I was right... it maintained its resolution when I selected 300 dpi I converted it into PDF right from photoshop... it came out beautiful

So... first I selected A4 size paper and set the dpi to 300. Having finished the cover, I converted it into PDF and that was it.
