No, you're laptop takes DDR(1), and that one that you want to get is DDR2, it won't fit.

Pretty much. Most laptops aren't fussy, as long as you get DDR and not DDR2. You can take a max of 2GB (1GB per slot), so keep that in mind.

The keying is different. When you go to put it in, it won't fit. Even if that was DDR RAM it likely wouldn't be compatible because you can only put 1GB per slot I believe.

RAM isn't for a specific operating system; it will work in any including XP. The RAM you linked to won't work because its DDR2.

That will work. I would go with the Kingston RAM below because it is a reputable brand known for quality.

Kingston, Corsair and Crucial are good RAM makers. I plan to buy 2 GB Crucial for my laptop, I'm going to get it from newegg:

Just try to steer clear of anything with the word "value" in it, like "value ram"
