[SOLVED] Internet Connection Not Working

Hi, I was working on my laptop computer this morning, and a circuit got flipped at my house, and it caused my router to go off. I flipped the circuit back so now the router works, and the internet works on other computers, but not the laptop. What could have happened to my laptop? When I plug the Ethernet cable into my laptop, it recognizes it, and says acquiring network address. It takes it a while to do this, but it does eventually work.
Once it does that, it says I'm connected, but my virus protection cannot update and I cannot use Internet Explorer. What could be wrong?

I did the command prompt stuff and realized that I was getting ping, so I was like what the heck and checked Internet Explorer... and it was working! I don't know what the heck happened, but since it works now, I figured it would be pointless to post the diagnostics. Anyways, thanks so much for your help and sorry for the waste of time, my computer is a crazy pain.
