Hi, After i installed a program, i'm unable to change the homepage in Mozilla Firefox and GoogleGhrome, it link directly to "http://hi.ru/?10", I deleted that program, i tried creating a new Mozilla profile but i didn't know how to do it so i ended up deleting the User profile, i lost all my bookmarks (that's okay) But the problem persists.
I scanned my pc with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and found nothing, tried to do a System Restore but it fail to complete giving me some error.
Checked my extensions but found nothing suspicious ( I just have Avast online security) but its already disabled.

Any help would be appreciated.

Re: http://hi.ru/?10

What's the name of the program you installed, and what website was it downloaded from?

"... tried to do a System Restore but it fail to complete giving me some error" - What did the error message say?

How to create a new Firefox profile without losing anything from your original profile: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profile-manager-create-and-remove-firefox-profiles

How to backup your profile and bookmarks (for future reference): http://www.techsupportforum.com/forums/f131/backup-and-restore-mozilla-profiles-bookmarks-etc-93083.html

Re: http://hi.ru/?10

Thanks for the quick reply Koala
I was trying to install the last update of IDM
"https://***********/internet-download-manager-6-21-build-19-final-idm-t10130774.html#main"
Mod edit: removed torrent link

The error message was:"System restore did not complete successfully. Your computer's system files and settings where not changed.

Details:
System restore failed while restoring the registry from the restore point.
The restore point was damaged or was deleted during the restore.

You can try system restore again and choose a different restore point. If you continue to see this error, you can try an advanced recovery method.

Re: http://hi.ru/?10

Sorry, we don't offer any support for downloads from file-sharing sites, but you can get a 30 day free trial or buy Internet Download Manager for $25 from here: https://secure.internetdownloadmanager.com/buy_idm.html

After buying and registering, you get free upgrades to the latest versions.

It looks like the pirate copy might have made some changes to your browser homepage and disabled system restore to prevent you from resetting the homepage. If you'd like our security team to take a look, please follow these instructions: http://www.techsupportforum.com/forums/f50/new-instructions-read-this-before-posting-for-malware-removal-help-305963.html

Re: http://hi.ru/?10

I know the problem is still here but i kinda ignore it but Unpinning Mozilla and Chrome from the taskbar and then Pinning them again from their folder destination, my system restore isn't working from a long time...
I'll follow your instructions because id like to know how to remove this issue.

Thanks Koala.

Re: http://hi.ru/?10

I got rid of hi.ru, i downloaded DDS and found in the log file:
uStart Page = hxxp://hi.ru/?10
uSearch Page = hxxp://hi.ru/search/?q={searchTerms}

So i went to regedit and deleted them, checked InternetExplorer (it was the only one i didn't unpin/pin so i can test if the "bug" is gone) and it was :)
