OK. I have an HP Pavilion m7750n here that as soon as the power cord is plugged in the fans start spinning (PSU, CPU, and Case fans). The lights on the front come on, the DVD drive bay door opens, but it does not boot. The monitor does not say "no signal" but it goes into power saving mode. I have checked all the ATX power connectors on the 20 pin connector. Removed the RAM, cleaned the connectors and reseated them, and reset the CMOS; but it still will not boot. I had assumed it was the PSU because I have heard bad things about Bestec, but all the voltages seems to be fine. Oh, and there are no beeps at all. I'm at a loss.

Re: HP Pavilion m7750n Powers on as soon as it's plugged in...

Can you borrow a graphics card and try it.
I have a question: You say,"as soon as the power cord is plugged in" , do you mean the comp powers up without the ON button being pressed? If that is the case then something is shorting on the motherboard and might be the prob.

No, I don't have another graphics card to use. I'm currently using the onboard graphics adapter. Yes, it does come on immediately as soon as it is plugged in. If I hold the power button down, it will shut down and I can power it back up with the button again, but if I unplug it and plug it back in, the CPU fan and drive lights all come on immediately.

So, still waiting for some sort of feedback. No response. Is this the final end all be all of this issue?

I have the exact same issue. I have read on other forums that the card reader can be the issue. However I have unplugged everything one at a time, and no dice. I guess I'm going to have to order a MOBO and hope that it resolves the issue.
