Re: Help with recover cd (toshiba)

Are you sure you are saving the settings before exiting? If booting from the CD-rom is before the HDD in the BIOS, then it shouldn't be booting into windows from the HDD.
Re: Help with recover cd (toshiba)

Positive,
but theres a catch to it.I have a "worm" when i put in the cd I follow the directions Reboot the computer,When I turn it on I hear the CD-ROM running befor the hdd,But the virus is not letting the computer use the recovery cd.

Re: Help with recover cd (toshiba)

as part of recovery are you planning to wipe the drive clean? if so, have you tried using other tools like DBAN to format the drive?

No I'll try but, I have a worm and it messed my whole win32 files now when I try to use a application it says its not a valid win32 application...:mad::mad::mad:
Re: Help with recover cd (toshiba)

worm in the hard drive of your laptop?

use another computer (a PC or another laptop) and get DBAN from link on my sig or here:

http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/dban/dban-1.0.7_i386.iso?download

burn the ISO image into a blank CD. you can use Nero or ImgBurn. DO NOT COPY the file directly into the CD. pop this CD into your laptop's CD drive and boot from it (just like what you do when you do XP recovery). from there you can wipe your drive clean.

DBAN CD in your laptop CD drive already? power ON your laptop and boot from your CD drive.
Re: Help with recover cd (toshiba)

How do I do that on my toshiba?

How do I do that on my toshiba?
just do a power ON and see if it boots from CD. if it goes directly to boot Windows in your hard drive shutdown and reboot. enter BIOS settings and change boot sequence. in the boot order the CD drive should come before the hard drive. save and reboot.

that would do. i usually set mine like this:

FDD -> CD-ROM -> HDD -> LAN
Re: Help with recover cd (toshiba)

Th eclosest i can get to that is fdd to cd-rom to hdd to lan
Is that ok?
Re: Help with recover cd (toshiba)
