I have this HDD from my old HP Laptop - Newegg.com - Western Digital Scorpio Blue WD1600BEVS 160GB 5400 RPM 8MB Cache 2.5" SATA 1.5Gb/s Internal Notebook Hard Drive -Bare Drive
I bought an external enclosure today to transfer data from this HDD to my new laptop. Here's the link to the enclosure - Vantec ? Vantec NexStar TX- NST-210S2-BK - 2.5" SATA to USB 2.0 External Hard Drive Enclosure

The pins on the HDD doesn't fit into the slots on the enclosure, eventhough both are exactly same length. I am buying an external enclosure for the first time, so not sure whether I am doing everything correctly. Is there anything I am missing here?

Thanks for help in advance.

Re: Hard Drive not fitting into compatible enclosure

Take a picture and post it back SATA only lines up one way. Did you try flipping the hard drive over to its other side and sliding it into the connector ?

Re: Hard Drive not fitting into compatible enclosure

And here are the pictures of the pins on the HDD..I tried flipping the HDD and plugging it in, but still doesn't go through..It seems like the two ends of the connector on the enclosure is actually bigger than the slot on the HDD..

Re: Hard Drive not fitting into compatible enclosure

Just solved the issue...the HDD already had a connector on it, which is from the laptop. I had to pull it out, and now the connector on the enclosure smoothly fits in...Thanks for making me look more in detail into the pictures..
