I have an HP DV6000 note book. The mobo died and I want to recover the hard drive contents. Is there a USB adapter to attach the hard drive to a desktop to retreive contents? The Hard drive p/n is 431405-001

This is a SATA drive; the power and data connections are identical to those in a desktop; an adapter should not be necessary. Connect it to the desktop as you would any other hard drive.

To answer your question, yes, SATA to USB adapters are available from many merchants.

The hd connections are made from the side, not the end. The sata cable will not physically fit.

I spoke too soon. I removed the adapter plate and I was able to connect and retreive the contents. Thanks for your help!!
