I'm using Server 2008 R2 and am trying to set up a GPO for folder redirection for Remote Desktop Services users.
After following instructions on TechNet and MS Labs software, I've created a new OU in the Group Policy Management snap-in on the domain controller and linked a GPO to it, then ensured that the GPO is scoped to the Remote Desktop Users group.
When I check the documents folder on the user profile, it's still pointing to the default local location.

So I forced a refresh of GPO (gpupdate) and checked again.
I logged ooff and on again and checked again.

Still no change.

I tried to change it manually on the client machine to see if it would work that way but get a message saying I cannot change the location as the folder cannot be indexed.

So I checked the folder on the file server and sure enough, the indexing box is checked...

Now I'm getting lost in the myriad of settings in GPOs...

Can anyone help please?

Re: GPOs and Remote Desktop Users folder redirection

Sorry if these questions seem stupid but have I got this right?

You have Remote Desktop Users
You want to change all their default folder locations using a GPO
Where are you redirecting their default folders, network share?
what folders do you want to redirect, the default "documents" folder in windows 7?
I'm assuming because you're using a GPO you have multiple RDS users each with their own account?
Where are the RDS user profiles stored on the server?
