When I entered my office this morning my computer screen had an error message (Error loading FreeDOS kernel, press any key).
Since I left my computer on overnight I assume Automatic Updates must have downloaded and installed an update and possibly attempted to restart my computer? I'm really not sure what happened overnight but now I get this error message every time I restart my machine.

What do I do?

Thanks

Re: FreeDOS Kernel

Hi kvg and welcome to TSF !

Freedos is used by several bootable CD's and floppies, make sure there's no floppy in the floppy drive and no CD in the CD drive.

Are you multi-booting different operating systems on that computer ?

What's the brand and model of the computer and the exact version of the operating system (XP home, pro, media center, what service pack) ? Do you have the XP CD ?

Re: FreeDOS Kernel

Thank you so much. I feel stupid now, I forgot about a floppy in the drive, I very rarely use floppies and forgot and left one in there.

Thanks again!
