Hi, I've been looking on the internet for a fix for my friends autoplay on his Windows XP computer and one of the fixes was this:
"Run Registry Editor (regedit.exe)
and Go to - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer and look for NoDriveTypeAutoRun a DWORD value... If it exists, delete it and Restart your PC to take effect."
I would do that if I was totally convinced it was the right thing to do, but someone else had a little bit of a different answer:
"Go to the registry
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current
Version\Policies\Explorer
The issue is actually the presence of the
NoDriveTypeAutoRun here, not the value.
To fix, rename the key to something else (like
XNoDriveTypeAutoRun) and reboot."
This makes me wonder which one is right or are they both right?
Or is there something else I should be doing?
The other thing I'm having an issue with is that I installed Nero Showtime on his computer and when the program asked, I set it to be the player for DVD movies, but when I go to "My Computer" and right click on the "DVD Drive", it doesn't even show the option to "play with Nero Showtime" it has the option to "play with VLC Media Player" but nothing else. What can I do to fix this? I even uninstalled Nero Showtime and reinstalled it, just to make sure I checked the boxes (during installation) for it to be the player for DVDs.
If someone could help me with these 2 issues, I would really appreciate it.
Thanks All in advance
