I have failed to install another OS (XP) on my laptop which came with pre-installed Windows Vista.
when i boot my laptop using Windows XP CD it copies the required files but when i press ENTER to install Windows XP the message appears that ” Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed in your computer. Make sure any hard disk drives are powered on and properly connected to your computer and that any disk related hardware configuration is correct. This may involve running a manufacture supplied diagnostic or setup program. Setup cannot continue. To quit setup, press F3.”
I have gone to the bios setting so that i disable SATA but the option cannot be seen anywhere. Please advise me on how to install Windows XP on my Laptop. I have a Toshiba satellite A205-S5871. Gad

Are you replacing Vista or creating a dual boot system?

In the Bios You don't want to Disable SATA, you want to change the HDD mode from AHCI to IDE or Compatibility Mode.

Re: Failed to Install XP on Toshiba satellite A205-S5871.

Got it Right.
I downloaded Intel Matrix Storage Manager-7.5.0.1017 (ICH7M_32bit/ICH8M-32bit) from Intel web site then integrated them with XP using nLite. Restarted the Laptop then down graded to Windows XP Perfectly with no hassles. Thanx
