Hi people,

Sorry to barge right in with a question but here goes.
I've bought a new PC off ebay and loaded the operating system myself (XP pro SP2) however some of the drivers are now missing.

I've lost the PCI device driver
Ethernet controller (No LAN showing)
SM Bus controller

Can you help. The item number on ebay is 250314561321 if you want to have a look at the system spec advertised on the advert!

I'm starting to regret buying it now but hey ho!

Thanks

Re: Ethernet controller

If like the ebay entry says, and it has an Asus P5N-MX motherboard, then LAN and your SM Bus controller (Which is part of the intel chipset, it monitors temperature and voltage for programs that use it) should be built in.

In this case goto the Asus website, goto the support/download section and search for your motherboard, Socket 775 --> P5N-MX --> WinXP.

This should list all the drivers for your motherboard and help you out.

Re: Ethernet controller[MOVED FROM WINDOWS]

Ok thanks for the pointers... Feeling like I know nothing now but there are several driver options and none seem to be the one I need would anyone be able to point me further in the right direction?

Many thanks

Re: Ethernet controller[MOVED FROM WINDOWS]

Hi Blearsy,
You have a Nvidia GeForce 7050/nForce 610i chipset.
The chipset driver can be found here:
http://www.nvidia.com/object/nforce_winxp_15.24.html

Download and install this driver. After installation go back to the device manager and post any errors remaing, if any.
Hope this helps,
Bill

nearly there folks

Hi thanks for all your help. I'm finally nearly sorted the only device with errors now is shoing as 'unknown'

When checking the properties of this device it describes it as a 'other device' on 'on PCI standard ISA bridge'

Does that make any sense to anyone!

Thanks
Dan

Re: Ethernet controller[MOVED FROM WINDOWS]

Hi,
This is related to the ATK2000.inf file being missing This file is located on the Asus website:
http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us&model=P5N-MX&type=map&f_type=14

Input you OS
The file you need is ASUS PC ProbeII V1.04.23 Install Program for Windows 2000/XP/2003/Vista & Windows. This is under Utilities

Download an extract the file to a folder and run Asus Setup exe.

Let me know how you make out.
Bill
