Hi Mr. Dabit

Your computer is showing the Error 39 for your CD Drive. This can sometimes be caused by Updates, and other things. To fix this I would like you to:
Click Start
Click Run
Type in " regedit" and click Ok

When in the registry editor I would like you to navigate to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SYSTEM \ CurrentControlSet \ Control \ Class \ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

In this folder I would like you to delete the Upperfilter and Lowerfilter values. Please BACKUP your registry before taking these actions, by clicking on My Computer and clicking File -> Export in the Editor."

and i didnt find the upper and lower filter.

If someone can help me, I am trying to fix this problem in a Dell Inspiron 6400 with windows XP home edition Sp 3

Hope Someone can help me
Regards

Hi Joeten
I click on the link you provided but the problem doesn't occur in a vista system.
Occurs in a Dell Inspiron 6400 with windows XP home edition Sp 3. (my Brothers Computer)
And following the steps "techpro5238" posted or the steps on the link you posted, I am not able to find the upper and lower Filters. They Don't appear.

Re: Error 39 for your CD Drive

joeten. do you know if its possible to run a complete installation of windows via a cd drive network?
I put them in network and it started ok. but when the laptop restarts, the connection is lost. I don't know if there's a way to put the pc to start from a network cd drive instead of a hard drive o a installed cd drive.

Re: Error 39 for your CD Drive

Hello,

Before you try reinstalling windows try this here:

Have you tried uninstalling the cd/dvd drives in device manager,
restart the computer, and see if the computer picks up the drive and puts the driver for it?

Re: Error 39 for your CD Drive

Joeten And Riskyone101

Thanks for all your help.

Is joeten suggested. I uninstalled some softwares Like Itunes, Bonjour, and a Dvd Player.

And then I proceeded to regedit: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SYSTEM \ CurrentControlSet \ Control \ Class \ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
And this time I did Find "Lower Filter" I Immediately Erase it.
Just like that The Cd_Dvd Player Began to work Perfectly. I am now reinstalling windows.
Thanks You guys again For All Your Help And Specially Thnaks To: WWW.TECHSUPPORTFORUM.COM its a great page.

Just one more thing, For what i have read, i should post this error to solved. But dont know how.
