Have a dell inspiron 1501 laptop had to re install winxp and can not find network drivers I have lost my utilities disk any help would be great. Went on dell site and can not download the drivers.Thanks in advance for any help:wave:

under category, pick network. it's probably the broadcom card. i'd update all others drivers if possible.

The Dell site is your best choice . . what file are you downloadng? . . do not use their download manager, click on the driver name and download that way

did you download R149798.EXE?
should have been the second broadcom download (the first is diagnostics, second should say driver)
When you run the file, it should offer to extract, then it should automatically start installing. If not, go to C:\dell\drivers\R149798 (that's where it extracts to by default), and run setup.exe

tried to download broadcom driver 440x10/100 intergrated controller from dell support but when I click on download the screen turns blue and wont download is it because my dell support has expired? or am I missing something thanks for any support

Do not click on the download button . . click on the driver name. Be sure to use IE, FF will sometimes throw up on the Dell site

I would try a dfferent pc . . that one has problems.

Its a laptop I got for my son 2 years ago for graduation dell inspiron 1501 came with win vista had to format the drive a month ago lost the dell disc so installed win xp went ok but can not get the drivers I need. ex: net adapters base system device modem device on high definition auidio bus sm bus controller. does this any sence or should I just hang it up ? thanks for all the help this site is great I am new to this stuff and apoligize for all my stupidness

Hi,
Can you post ALL the errors in the Device Manager.
Since you downgraded to XP from Vista you have to install the correct drivers in the correct order.
Please post ALL errors and we will get you the correct drivers.

errors in the device manager are: network adapters broadcom 440x10/100 integrated controller, other devices base system device, modem device on high definition audio bus, network controller, sm bus controller.

Dell Drivers: go to the Dell support site, enter your Service Tag Number and download the drivers
