Re: Do I need to re install laptop drivers if I just re installed Vista?

Look in Device Manager to see if anything needs drivers . . Windows Update will have some of the drivers

Re: Do I need to re install laptop drivers if I just re installed Vista?

Thanks Rich! So, I did that and found in "Other Devices" the Ethernet Controller, Mass Storage Controller, and an Unknown Device have no drivers.

When I try to do the Windows Update I get error code 80072F8F (time and date issue), I fixed my time and date, but it still won't update due to the error code mentioned above.

I'm so frustrated with this....please help!

YES.

Vista could have installed SOME generic drivers for the system, but I would definitely suggest installing the main drivers (Video, audio etc.) using the Drivers CD that came with the laptop (or) download the latest ones from the Gateway site. I'd prefer the latter.

Just head on to their site, key in the model no., select the OS, and you'll have fresh drivers waiting for you. :)

In the Time Properties, make sure you have the correct Time Zone that you are in. You can also boot into Setup (Bios) and set the time there.
Any device with yellow marks need to have drivers installed. As ReviverSoft said. If you do not have internet access on that computer, on an internet computer go to the Gateway site and find your make and model and download the drivers you need to a USB Flash drive and transfer them to this computer.

Thanks for the help. All is up and running for the most part. Now just an issue with the product key, but that is just a phone call.
