[SOLVED] Configuring a secure wireless internet connection via company network

704 Views 9 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  nvisibl
I'm looking to setup 2 x Wireless routers for external web access for customers.

I have a dedicated broadband line (ADSL) of which I would like the Wireless routers to use in order to gain web access.

The 2 x wireless routers are connected via ethernet to the company LAN infrastructure, as is the dedicated broadband router.

I don't however want users of the wireless routers to be able to see or access any of the IP's on the company network.

Does anyone have some advice as to how I may accomplish this?

Re: Configuring a secure wireless internet connection via company network

thanks John, i see, ok

The company LAN hosts 3 windows 2003 servers and 30 XP clients, DHCP and DNS runs from one of the 2003 servers, also the domain controller.

There are 4 other broadband routers on the network and they are connected to a Vigor 3300 Draytek firewall. All company traffic goes through this firewall which provides load balancing for the attached 4 routers.

The 2 x wireless routers I am using are linksys wrt54gl's

The broadband modem is of basic spec and is ADSL connected to via dedicated exchange line. I thought to use this modem as it serves no other function for anything on the network so though it could be dedicated to the task of enabling the wireless routers access to the web?

I hope that helps give a bit more of a picture?

Thanks for your advice

Re: Configuring a secure wireless internet connection via company network

on checking it out i'm sure it will work just great when I get a chance to set it up. Your help John most appreciated, thank you.
I was working on it today John, and had a go at the VLAN setup but I didn't really get anywhere. Not sure how the VLAN should work.

I was hoping that I may have been able to patch in another 2 or 3 ethernet cables into the LAN ports on the router, and into the main network hub. And thereafter configuring subnets via the Draytek, but it seems that I am quite off the mark.

I'd appreciate any advice you could give to get me going further with this one.

Thank you for your help and for holding fort here so well.

sincerely
sure John, okay... I hope they do. Thanks
