I'm not exactly sure if this is the right forum.

Everytime when I watch a video on cnn/youtube/ign/gamespot and etc.
Eventually, sooner or later, my computer will just freeze/lockup.
Also, the samething happens when I play games on the PC, eventually..

msinfo and dxdiag text files are in the attachments

Here are my specs:
-OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit (6.1, Build 7601)
-Motherboard: N68SB-M2s Motherboards
-CPU: AMD Athlon(tm) II X2 260 Processor 3.2GHz
-GPU: 460 GTX GEFORCE (Approx memory 2769 MB)
-PSU: Antec NEO ECO 620C 620W Continuous Power ATX12V v2.3
-RAM: CORSAIR XMS2 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400)

There is also an on-board vga on my motherboard that I don't know how to disable in my BIOS, if that's going to help.

I recently cleaned the dust out off my computer, so all the fans are free from dust. So it shouldn't be the temperatures.

I heard it might be the video drivers by Nvidia, I never had this problem before until I got the new drivers by Nvidia, and I just switch back to the old one 310.90 and it kinda helped. Less freezing/locking up, but it still happens.

Anything else you need, ask.

Re: Computer Freezes. Help

Let's check your system health report for any anomalous errors or warnings.

System Health Report:
Please collect your system health report:

  1. Press the Start Button

  2. Type perfmon /report into the Search programs and files box.

  3. Press Enter

  4. Click File

  5. Click Save As...

  6. Choose HTML as the output and save it for upload here

Please provide your temperatures during idle (when not running any programs and just sitting on the desktop).

Please provide your temperatures during stress (running a game, using hardware diagnostic software, rendering a video, running a full virus scan, etc.).

Use HWMonitor to provide the voltages and temperatures seen during idle and under stress. Please capture an image of HWMonitor using the snipping tool rather than saving a text file.

The following programs can also be used to monitor temperatures in case you suspect HWMonitor is giving inaccurate readings.

Re: Computer Freezes. Help

Sorry for the late reply, I thought my computer was fixed. It was working well for a couple of days and so, then it came back. The people in geforce.com helped me out.

Edit:
I'll get the temperatures soon

Nothing major seen in the health report. Your disk queue usage is slightly high, but a level 2 is fairly normal. Even so, check the disk health and run a full error scan with HDTune.

We'll also be awaiting your temperature and voltage readings from HWMonitor.

Re: Computer Freezes. Help

my 80GB hard disk, 55C
Thats the one that has my OS installed.
Edit:
Should I remove my 80GB hard disk?
I have 3 hard drives, (2) 250-300 GB hard drives and (1) 80GB which has my OS installed.

Your Seagate drive is also getting pretty hot. I would advise taking the side off the tower and pointing a room fan at your computer. Monitor the temperatures and see if the critical temperature error stop, and see if the freezes stop. If they do, consider getting a case with better air flow and a few more fans.

Re: Computer Freezes. Help

I opened my computer up, my 3 hard drives were all clustered up together, about 1 cm apart. So I removed my 80GB hard drive, and moved both of my 250GB hard drives further away each other so they have more breathing space and they don't have to share heat with each other.

So far things are working pretty well, I'm currently in a game and haven't froze at all (it should have froze by now). It dropped down about 10 degrees Celsius. This might have fixed it.
Thank you

First image is idle
second image is while I'm in a game (Total War Shogun 2)

I'll post back in a couple of days if everything is alright, or sooner if there is a problem.

Re: Computer Freezes. Help

Glad I was able to help. Your steps sound good, and I am happy you were able to provide a bit more space for heat exchange. Let us know in a couple days how things are going; hopefully you will have no need to post back before then. :-}

Re: Computer Freezes. Help

Sigh... The fan that I bought, helps. It actually allows me to play video games, but sometimes. My computer will just freeze randomly again. Regardless of I'm playing or not. It definitely stop freezing a lot more frequently. But yeah. It only froze twice today, which is good. I guess.

It froze once randomly while I was on desktop, and it froze once during in game for today.

Re: Computer Freezes. Help

Cannot edit my post, sorry double posting.
But I remember I doing something like this
The"out of video memory" leak is still there!!! =(

You don't have to click the link, but I did something like "bcdedit /set IncreaseUserVa 2048"

I don't know the exact value that I put, I feel like this should be taken into consideration. I don't know the default value, I have 4GB ram, would it be 4096? or 2048? or something else.
Edit:
For now, I put it on 4096. I don't know if that would be a good thing or a bad thing.
Edit2:
Going to delete the value then going to restart my computer

Re: Computer Freezes. Help

If your most recent steps do not fix the problem, I would suggest installing Windows on one of your other drives and removing the 80 GB WD drive. It may be that the WD drive was damaged due to overheating.

Re: Computer Freezes. Help

Ah, sorry, I did read that a few days ago but forgot. Juggling too many things at once these days. ;-}

Since the Seagate was reaching similar temperatures to the WD, try your Hitachi drive. I'd be very surprised if all three drives were bad, so if you still have problems with the Hitachi, that would likely indicate something else at work here.

Re: Computer Freezes. Help

I don't know if this is irrelevant. But do you think that this should be considered? And I will try installing it to my hitachi.
Edit:
This is when I did the memory diagnostic on windows system recovery, and sorry for the blurriness.

Re: Computer Freezes. Help

I just re-installed windows 7 back to my hitachi, where it was originally installed at first. And so far, everything seems alright. -_-
It's going to go rogue on me soon, I just know it, no game lock up, no desktop lock up so far. Everything is doing well as of now.
I'll post back soon to keep update

I'm trying to keep sane.

SOLVED.
Been days without freezing/lock ups.

How did I solve it, well..
Long ago, like months ago. I changed my BIOS setting switch to the most optimized by pressing F7(or something like that) which switch my HDD order.
I kept on switching my HDD order and made the CD ROM first and the hard disks second then the removable third. After I did that, everything fixed, no more crashing. Maybe the fan that I bought to cool down my HDD helped considering my HDD was going above 50C.
