I have been playing with Chrome now regularly - Firefox is my default browser - and I rather like Chrome, I am beginning to use it more often for casual web matters.

But PLEASE can any other Chrome user tell me a way to stop that irritating nag panel popping up every time I open the browser ? There really is no need for it to pop up every single time I use Chrome. There should be a "Do not show this message again" box to check.

It is a real "Put off" when I HAVE Windows XP, SP3 and Chrome should incorporate the technology to detect it, having already installed correctly and is now working perfectly. This panel drives me crackers. Such a message should have been shown on installation, not now in general service.

Here is the nagger :-

Re: Chrome nag panel on opening

Send a Bug Report to Chrome--
I will do that, but assumed that by now Google would have been buried in a huge pile of such bug reports and done something about it. But then, I have seen a long history of Google taking no notice of user comments or complaints.

I`ll give it a whirl.

Thanks

I remember a joke about a suggestion/complaint box where on the other side of the wall the pieces of paper dropped directly into a shredder.

Right click the Chrome icon and make sure you're not running in compatibility mode with some older OS.

Hello Cord,

Well my helpful friend, you have done it again. The clue you gave above did it.

I right clicked the Chrome icon then Properties>Compatibility and unchecked the box saying "Run this program in compatibility mode for Windows 2000".

And Yabba-Dabba-Doo, the nag panel has gone. On clicking the desktop Chrome icon - NO NAG PANEL - it goes straight to the browser Home Page.

Thank you so much Cord, you can mark my silly little thread as SOLVED.

I am thinking perhaps I do not need the Forum, just simply come to you.

Yabba
