All sound on my laptop has died. I have:

-tried turning the volume up using the buttons above my keyboard
-tried playing music on iTunes and videos on Youtube with and without my speakers and headphones (both of which work)
-made sure it is not muted on the mixer.

-made sure the devices are listed as working properly (in the control panel)

*the green in this image shows that the speakers think they are putting out sound, and the up and down of the green bar even corresponded correctly to the song I was playing in iTunes

I am using Windows Vista Basic; the sound has been working fine for over three months, and I have a Thinkpad T61 laptop. Based on the second image, I think my soundcard is "SPDIF Interface Soundmax digital integrated HD", but if this is incorrect, how do I figure out what my sound card is?

Does anyone know what I should try/do next? Thank you very much!

Re: Charlie Chaplain time...

restating specs + additional info:

Thinkpad T61 laptop
Windows Home Vista Basic
2GB RAM
Intel Duo Core 1.8 Ghz
90 GB hard drive
SPDIF Interface Soundmax digital integrated HD

I'd appreciate any ideas!

Re: Charlie Chaplain time...

for some strange reason my computer died, restarted itself a couple times in a row, and now things seem to be working again... very odd indeed.
