I have a Hp tsstcord CD/DVDWts h552l burner and when I went to use it it will play disk but I keep getting this when I try to copy to a disk, from my computer, things I want to back up

E:\is not accesible. incorrect function,

I just used it a couple of days ago.
Is there any thing I could have done to make it stop working?

uninstall the upper and lower filters
scroll down to how here

Howdy Florence..

Lets try the easy road first...

Right click My Computer..
Click On Manage
Then a new window will pop up
Click the device manager in the left hand pane.
Next click on the little + (in the right hand pane) DVD/CD Rom drives..
Click your DVD rom
Now click drivers..
And lastly click uninstall and reboot.

Lets see if windows will pick it up and give it the right driver...

I did what you said and I still get the same message, so I am thinking that something happen to my dvd. I have had a some noise lately on here and I thought it might be a fan, so blow the dust out, but still had the noise. now the player dvd don't work.
can play disk just can't record.

I forgot the computer did say I had some new hardware installed when I rebooted

yes it will say that as it found your DVD rom again..

This can be as easy as your burning software as have that problem allot.

I put Nero in and tried to copy to disk and when I get to where it says next it is grayed out, also it keeps asking for me to put in a disk and it is already in there,
So there must be something wrong with it, and I am going to see about getting another one installed, thank you for all your help.

OK found I was doing it wrong, now I have what I was trying to save but don't understand how to open what I burned and see if everything is in there, does it just restore it to my computer; I haven't used Nero in years,
Ok went back and found what was on the disk, I still can't understand why Nero worked and my windows didn't.

windows before vista do not burn dvd's only cd's

My HP does burn dvd's and cd's , and I have it fixed now, I got ahold of HP and they told me waht to do , it didn't work so I was into my computer and I right clicked on my C drive and it had been turned off, I clicked it to turn it back on and everything is work ok now,I have burned three cd's since then,thanks for the help I got from here, and sure missed you when this site went off line,
