Using Norton Save & Restore I have tried to copy my laptop HD 3 times to a larger USB external HD. Each time the copy does not complete and I get error codes. The first is EC8F17B3 which I have found on the Norton website to indicate an error on the source drive and to run CHKDSK which I have done 3 times to no avail. Other error codes are e926001d, e926001f and ebab0005. It seems Norton S&R can't simply copy a HD the way it is. Any Ideas?

Hello & Welcome to TSF:

a piece of extra info:

Windows operatign systems will not boot from a USB drive. You can have a complete cloned copy of your drives contents for back-up / but it wont be bootable

keep us posted with your progress and feedback

thanks

Re: cannot complete HD copy

Thanks for the XXCLONE address. Looks like it might work. I wasn't planning on booting from the USB drive. I will swap out with my smaller laptop HD.
