Hi all. I am having problems with an old game, Command and Conquer Tiberium Sun. I had been without internet for over a week  due to an ISP change over and was having WoW withdrawals so dug this out for something to do. The game installed fine and I was happy playing it. I couldn't update it though as I had no connection. Every now and then it crashed halfway through a skirmish or something, but I would just restart the game.

I had since installed my new internet and generally spent yesterday updating and 'cleaning' the computer as I haven't done so for quite some time. This included windows update, updating Nvidia drivers, AV and firewall and also did a load of AV, spyware and registry scanning. Now I can't play the game. The disk will run, you can hear it in the drive, but when I then click on the desktop logo I get a black screen with a large cursor in the middle and everything has frozen. I have to reset the comp to get out of it. If I let the disk run, I get to the menu where I was able to update the game. But then when I click on play, the same thing happens.

I'm guessing something I've installed, uninstalled or updated is stopping it. Any ideas?

Re: C&C Tiberium Sun wont play

hello
download revo uninstaller from my sig and use it to uninstall the game and all its remaining in the registry and then reinstall it again
maybe you should install an older version of drivers for your nvidia cards
try the one just before you update it, you said it was working, maybe after you updated your video drivers the game stopped working

Re: C&C Tiberium Sun wont play

Thanks for the replies! It was my PC tools firewall. Turning off this did the trick and I can now play games. I didn't realise when I updated McAfee, it included a firewall so obviously the 2 together was causing problems.

Thanks for suggesting Revo uninstaller, it's a nice program :)

Thanks again!
