[SOLVED] BSOD - "hardware error" when running a specific game (BC2)

2941 Views 3 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  Jonathan_King
Code:
· OS - Windows 7
· x64
· What was original installed OS on system: This
· OEM
· Age of system (hardware): All purchased new, Dec 2010
· Age of OS installation - have you re-installed the OS? Dec 2010, never re-installed
· CPU: Intel i7-950
· Video Card: Palit SONIC nVIDIA GTX 460 Geforce 1GB Graphics Card
· MotherBoard: Gigabyte SKT-1366 X58-USB3 Motherboard
· Power Supply: Corsair 650W
The BSOD only crashed when running Battlefield: Bad Company 2, usually about 20 minutes into the game. This has only started happening in the last week. Before that, I could play this game for hours without a problem.

I previously overclocked it, but returned it to factory settings just to be sure. I was monitoring the core temps the very moment the most recent BSOD happened, and they maxed at about 60.

Thanks for any help,
Michael

Re: BSOD - "hardware error" when running a specific game (BC2)

Hello,

First off, your BSODs look remarkably like the ones here: BSOD while playing BFBC2 - Windows 7 Forums

So much so, in fact, that I wonder if PnkBstrB.exe is truly the offending process. See if you can find an updated version of the anti-hacking program. I don't know the game myself, but the guys on SevenForums are discussing PunkBuster more; I suggest you follow their conversation and do what they do.

Re: BSOD - "hardware error" when running a specific game (BC2)

Thanks, that forum seems to have found the offending program - Easy Tune 6.

I uninstalled it, and BC2 seems to run perfectly.
