Re: BSOD Driver power state Failure

Hi -

Run chkdsk /r on all HDDs
Run HDD diags - http://www.techsupportforum.com/2828431-post7.html

If SeaTools for DOS long test passes, run Driver Verifier.

Driver Verifier - Driver Verifier - Windows 7 & Vista (BSOD-related)

Driver Verifier needs to run 24 hours minimum or until it BSODs your system, whichever is less. Then . . .

could it be somthing with the windows update and steam??

Re: BSOD Driver power state Failure

Just tried the driver vertifier and got bluescreen but no driver power state failure, and this bluescreen code:
BCCode: c4
BCP1: 00000000000000F6
BCP2: 00000000000000E0
BCP3: FFFFFA800D469B30
BCP4: FFFFF8800934B809
OS Version: 6_1_7601
Service Pack: 1_0
Product: 256_1
this is not the same bluescreen code i got before..!
Re: BSOD Driver power state Failure

The C4 bugcheck means Driver Verifier did its job well, and found a faulty driver. Could you please attach the new dump file?
  • OS - Vista/ Windows 7 ? Windows 7 pro
  • x86 (32-bit) or x64 ?x64
  • What was original installed OS on system? none bought in pieces
  • Is the OS an OEM version (came pre-installed on system) or full retail version (YOU purchased it from retailer)? Windows 7 Professional (x64) - DVD (English) from MSDNAA
  • Age of system (hardware): brand new for retailer 14. January 2011
  • Age of OS installation - have you re-installed the OS? 1,5 month old on a 1,5 month old pc
  • CPU: Intel i7 950 @ 3,06GHz

  • MotherBoard: Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R X58 S-1366 ATX

Have taken the BSOD File Collection app and perfmon report, here it is:

Re: BSOD Driver power state Failure

Thank you.

The crash points to gdrv.sys, which is a Gigabyte energy saving program driver. I'm not sure whether it belongs to AutoGreen or EnergySaver2; remove them both and see what happens.

Re: BSOD Driver power state Failure

We have a new BSOD now, unrelated to the previous ones. This is being caused by a bug in PunkBuster, which has not been definitively resolved yet. Try all the suggestions here: BSOD while playing BFBC2 - Page 2 - Windows 7 Forums
