PC SPecs:
Operating System: Windows 7 Ultimate x64 bit (pirated)
Motherboard: Asus P5Q SE2
GFX Card: XFX HD Radeon 5750 1GB
Power Supply: Corsair 750W
RAM: DDR2 Crucial 800MHZ (2x 2gb)
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 3.16GHz 1333MHz

The problem i face is that when i fire up my PC i get an error message which loosely translate into "Master Boot Record-fail. Press any key.".
Naturaly i press enter to move on. It asks me to choose operating system to start and the only option is "Windows Setup [EMS enabled]" and "Windows Diagnostics Tool" so i click Windows Setup, i reach the logg in screen but, problem; No login, just screen.
Tried safe mode.. It said Windows(R)Ultimate(R)(Build 7600) on the top and "Safe Mode" in each corner, but no where to press, no ctrl alt deling, etc.

So yeah.. Cheers if i can get some help :D
Problably managed to **** up the cable.. putting in-in.. o_O WELL.. Cheers :)!

(Thought i'd post this in the motherboards, bios and cpu cause i fear that's whereabout the problem is :]!)

Re: Boot problems with new motherboard

there are 3 possible problems that this could be.

1. your hard drive is damaged
2. windows is corrupt
3. you have a virus

best way to resolve this is: go into the bios and see if your hard drive is detected if not try a new cable. If it is put the windows cd in and set boot device priority to boot from the cd. Next when windows setup starts you want to enter the recovery console and run fdisk /mbr which will attempt to fix the master boot record of the hard drive. If this doesn't work then you may have a virus and the only way to fix is to do a complete wipe of the hard drive and re install everything.

Re: Boot problems with new motherboard

Sometimes, a new Mobo requires a reinstall of the OS. Have you tried booting from a Windows CD. You could also try booting from a Linus CD to bypass the Hdd.

Re: Boot problems with new motherboard

Hmm, tried the upper 3 and as both of you said, it required for me to reinstall the OS. Everything works now and my pc has never been better :) Thanks alot for the help again!
