Hey,
I'm an IT technician and to my girlfriend I am first point of call for computer trouble.. The trouble she having at the minute, is a black screen after windows update.

THIS only happens when shutting down, the screen goes black (still back-lit) and doesn't shutdown. The fan is still running so computer IS still running.

Only shut down, when hold power button obviously. When booted up everything is normal..

Is this due to the Windows Update? As this is a fresh install. Installed all drivers, and then updated.

there has been some probs with a windows update read this on the matter

To add to this, Prevx has issued an apology to Microsoft about this. And they have some suggestions for repairing the Black Screen issues (also known as the KSOD).
