Hi guys, I just recently built a rig with an ECS P4M800-M7 mobo. Everything works great except for the front usb ports. On the mobo there are 2 usb 2.0 pin connection slots, i've tried both and i think i may have my jumpers set wrong? some one help me please lol i'm exhausted!

EDIT: The board revision is version 3.1 and FSB is 800

Re: BioStar ECS P4M800-M7 usb pin problem

What "jumpers" are you referring to? Plugging the case USB wires into the Mobo USB headers should be all that is required. Do the rear Mobo USB connections work?
Re: BioStar ECS P4M800-M7 usb pin problem

Sorry I meant the headers, and yes they are plugged in correctly but i still get no power to the front usb. The rear usb works perfect

Re: BioStar ECS P4M800-M7 usb pin problem

I would guess the case wiring/connection is faulty or the Mobo headers are faulty.
What brand is the case?
ECS Mobo's are not noted for being top quality and Via chipsets are known to have issues with Intel CPU's. Can you try the Mobo in another case?
Re: BioStar ECS P4M800-M7 usb pin problem

I currently have only this micro atx dell case and i swapped mobo's, but, on the other board i had in here the usb worked fine and that was also an ECS board. Do you think i would need to enable anything in the bios?
Re: BioStar ECS P4M800-M7 usb pin problem

It's possible, some boards default to enabled, but some are disabled. Check through the bios, you may have to enable those front panel usb headers.
Re: BioStar ECS P4M800-M7 usb pin problem

I've checked and they are enabled im getting power now but when i plug something in XP says that it has malfunctioned when i go to check for driver updates nothing comes up and i even deleted the Root Hubs and reinstalled them. Any other suggestions?
Re: BioStar ECS P4M800-M7 usb pin problem

Did you use the usb2 controller driver from Biostar?

Re: BioStar ECS P4M800-M7 usb pin problem

Yes, and when i try running the setup it loads then says "Device not found" then closes. I just cant figure this thing out. When i plug my usb mouse in it should have a solid green led but instead its a very fast flashing sequence, maybe i am not getting enough power possibly?
Re: BioStar ECS P4M800-M7 usb pin problem

Shouldn't be flashing, have you tried different usb ports, a different mouse, or a powered usb hub even?
Re: BioStar ECS P4M800-M7 usb pin problem

All of my back usb ports work, the only ones that have trouble functioning are the front ones, but, they work on another motherboard so i know they aren't broken. I had a powered hub on last night and everything worked well.
Re: BioStar ECS P4M800-M7 usb pin problem

If the ports work fine with a powered hub, sounds like the usb header on the motherboard isn't delivering enough power for whatever device is plugged into it. Have you tried a different header on the motherboard to connect to the front panel?
Re: BioStar ECS P4M800-M7 usb pin problem

Time to close this thread its been a while! While I appreciate the input I am here to say i have corrected the problem, the problem was that my cpu was failing ISN'T THAT CRAZY! not long after I had posted this :1angel:, I started having random reboots and fiinally one afternoon it never powered on, so luckily I had a spare P4 lying around.

Glad you posted back. One to add to the "strange, but true" file eh.
